One Bloor West: RJC Engineers
A peek behind the scenes of Canada’s first supertall building.
I was lucky enough to be invited to join the team at RJC Engineers for a site tour of the construction progress of One Bloor West, Canada’s first supertall building (exceeding 300 metres in height). RJC’s team of engineers played a vital role in the engineering of One Bloor West.
The most beautiful tower crane in the skies of Toronto.
Built for life.
The sheer engineering required to keep a monolith of this scale upright is mind-blowing. Between the massive depth of the foundation walls and the specialized bracing for that beast of a tower crane, the technical specs are off the charts. Honestly, photos don’t do it justice—you have to stand on top of it to truly grasp the magnitude.
Huge shoutout to the team at RJC Engineers for inviting me to tour One Bloor West! I’ve been photographing Toronto’s skyscrapers for years, but this was hands-down the most unforgettable moment I’ve ever had behind the lens.
